Dr. Naseem is a double board certified psychiatrist in Adult and Geriatric Psychiatry. He completed his residency and fellowship training at Henry Ford Hospital and Detroit Medical Center. Dr. Naseem has more than 15 years of experience in the care of adult and older adults in outpatient, acute, and residential settings. He welcomes the chance to treat complex clinical presentations with the aim of helping the whole individual. Dr. Naseem is a non-certified but competent motorcycle mechanic, a published playwright, an avid juicer, and enjoys traveling internationally.

Serena Macauley is a board certified family psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.  Serena has been treating clients at Cheney Psychiatric since it opened in 2010 and is a founding member.  She has experience treating children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.  Serena enjoys offering consultation, a team approach to care, and educating patients and families about diagnosis and medication.  She has experience diagnosing and treating clients with complex mental health conditions as well as patients with comorbid medical conditions.  She is able to provide medication management.

Marcia Carlson is a Board Certified Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree from Clarkson College and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. While in graduate school, Marcia was a clinical instructor for undergraduate students at the University of Nebraska Medical Center for their psychiatric rotation. Marcia has over 20 years of experience as a psychiatric nurse, 16+ years have been working with children and adolescents.  She has experience working with youth who are experiencing situational stressors as well as those with severe mental illness and developmental disabilities. She has served as the charge nurse for many years on a busy youth mental health unit, where she worked very closely with patients, families, physicians, and other members of the treatment team. She enjoys working with patients of all ages with a special interest in youth.  Treating patients and their families with respect and individualized care is of upmost importance. Marcia believes patients should be treated in a holistic manner utilizing a biopsychosocial approach to assessment and treatment.  Marcia is a native of Nebraska and enjoys spending time with her husband, children, and friends.  She enjoys traveling, watching movies, and of course Nebraska football.

Sabrina Hellbusch is a Board Certified Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Sabrina has experience working with adolescent and adult patients in outpatient and inpatient medical and psychiatric settings. She has worked extensively with patients diagnosed with both psychiatric and substance use disorders. Sabrina believes in creating a welcoming and nonjudgmental environment where patients can freely express themselves. She practices with a patient-centered approach in ongoing collaboration with primary care providers, medical specialists, and psychotherapists. Sabrina provides psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing monitoring. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outside with her family, live music, and volunteering for a local dog rescue.

Katie Salvati is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Bryan College of Health Sciences and her Masters in Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Katie’s clinical career has taken her on a journey from inpatient to outpatient settings, providing holistic care across the lifespan. Katie has a commitment in providing individualized and comprehensive treatment plans to help facilitate personalized mental health goals. Katie believes mental health is a priority in ones’ potential.

In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with her family and friends, practicing yoga, and rock climbing. She is a strong advocate for reducing mental health stigma and embracing nursing’s pivotal role.

Erica Koehler is a Board-Certified Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Erica earned her Doctor of Nursing degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Erica has five years of experience as a registered nurse in mental health, working on an adult inpatient unit and has served as a clinical instructor for undergraduate nursing students while in graduate school. Erica can provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management to children aged 8 and up to adults with complex mental health conditions. Erica believes in building a therapeutic alliance with all her clients and advocating for them every step of the way.

In her free time, Erica enjoys playing volleyball, boating, and spending time with her family, friends, and three cats.

Katie Hunsberger has a Doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from Arizona State University.  She served as a military psychologist in the U.S. Navy for four years. Her duties included, provision of clinical psychology evaluations, assessments and services; special evaluations for military service members; the integration of mental health services into primary care/medical clinic; supervisor/trainer to Family Practice residents; administrative roles; and served on various boards and committees.  She worked in a civilian outpatient medical center for 9 and a half years providing clinical psychological evaluation, testing, and therapeutic services.  She is the current psychologist/owner of Justice Behavioral Health Services, L.L.C.  Katie provides of psychotherapeutic services, primarily with adults, addressing a wide range of presenting issues to include depression, anxiety, bipolar, and other mood disorders, trauma/PTSD, chronic pain and health issues, comorbid disorders with substance use disorders, life transitions and adjustment issues, physical health issues, chronic mental illness, and hoarding behaviors.  She is one of only a few Nebraska mental health professionals trained in the provision of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia.  Katie also provides additional services to children through older age populations including diagnostic interviews/differential diagnosis evaluations, psychological testing, bariatric evaluations, and memory disorders screening.

Tiffany Kavanaugh graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan with high distinction in social work, sociology, and anthropology.  She enjoys part-time clinic hours working with adults, adolescents, and families.  She uses a blend of supportive, cognitive, mindfulness and trauma-based therapies.  Outside of work she loves to spend time with her husband, 3 kids, and extended family.  Tiffany also volunteers at church, special needs ministry, and her children's school.

Heather Dohrman is a licensed independent mental health therapist, in practice since 2005. Her areas of experience include treatment of depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, LGBTQA issues, and life transitions.  Heather is a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional with a neuroscience approach to treating anxiety disorders.  Additional methods of treatment include cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Heather has experience working with people with disabilities and is trained to work with service dogs.  Heather provides a nonjudgmental, relaxed atmosphere for clients.  She believes in working as a team to identify problems, generate strategies, and plan for navigating future life stressors.

Lisa Laurell is a licensed clinical social worker and independent mental health practitioner.  She has worked for over 25 years in the field of providing clinical expertise to a variety of people with mental health concerns.  She has worked in both public and private settings.  Lisa has been a clinical social worker for the past 17 years in the state offender treatment center; assessing, establishing treatment plans, helping individuals recognize, accept their risks and adapting changes to function in a safer manner.  She has provided treatment to mental health clients in outpatient and inpatient settings.  She has excellent clinical and assessment skills and implements a variety of treatment techniques to assist clients in changing their lives to achieve potential and optimum mental health.  Lisa also enjoys volunteering at her children's school, church activities, and has coached for YMCA sports. She loves cooking sweets almost as much as she likes her exercise classes.

Jill received her Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Doane College in 1999.  Jill has over 20 years of experience working in the addictions field. She is a firm believer in empowering families to effectively intervene with children who may be struggling with addiction issues, as well as managing the myraid of other dynamics often associated with helping any family member overcome sustance abuse problems.  Jill works easily with both adults and adolescents, and is highly-skilled in working with individuals, couples, and families.  She is an EMDR trained clinician (Level I).  Jill has lived in the Lincoln community her entire life, enjoying many strong relationships in the community and within the juvenile and adult justice system, drug courts, the state health and human services system, and local school systems.  Jill enjoys the outdoors and also co-owns a company that creates hand-made greeting cards.

Amanda is a dually licensed mental health and substance abuse therapist. She serves the state of Nebraska through online telehealth therapy. Amanda comes with years of experience, working in different types of counseling settings, including inpatient treatment, a group practice, and currently her private practice. She serves rural Nebraskans online as well as busy local clients who enjoy therapy from their convenient locations.  

In therapy sessions, Amanda is interactive with clients, giving feedback, education, useful tools, and resources. She is a firm believer in wholistic health, with treating both the mind and body. Amanda enjoys studying how nutrition and exercise, play an important role on mental health. In her free time, you’ll find her outdoors with her kids, husband and pets!

Brienne Meaghers-Hays is a licensed independent mental health therapist with over 10 years of experience working with men and women of all age groups and diverse backgrounds.  Brienne's area of experience include the treatment of PTSD, depression, anxiety, Bipolar, grief/loss, emotional dysregulation, and interpersonal relational difficulties. Methods of treatment include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PET), play therapy, and solution focused therapy.  Brienne has particular interest in complicated grief and loss in relationship to miscarriage/infant loss, traumatic/premature birth, and infertility.  Brienne approaches therapy with warmth and an open mind, utilizing a variety of different tools based on the individual needs of the client. She promotes clients having an active role in therapy, to include treatment planning and evaluation.

Patty Sandoval is a clinical social worker and mental health therapist. She has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in social work. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and her master’s degree from New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico. She has worked in a variety of settings throughout her career. She has worked in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, medical hospitals, the Veteran’s Hospital and in outpatient counseling centers. She works with most age groups and specializes in providing therapy a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, adjustment and resiliency, stress management as well as medical issues.

Ali Jo Zavala-Beekman is a licensed independent mental health therapist with 13 years of experience. She enjoys part-time hours working with all ages but specializes in the child/adolescent and young adult populations. Ali has extensive experience with the child welfare and probation systems, Acute Inpatient hospitalization, residential levels of care for youth and emotionally dealing with T1D as a mom of a T1D warrior. She is also certified in the Duluth Domestic Violence Model, Nurturing Parenting Model and Intensive Family Preservation Model. Ali uses a variety of therapeutic approaches so that each client’s care is individualized. In her free time she loves spending time with her husband and 3 very active little boys!

She believes in a strengths based approach that focuses on a holistic view to assist clients in achieving their goals. Kadi will also see clients in assisted living and nursing facilities. In her free time, Kadi enjoys spending time with her family, watching her children play sports, traveling and volunteering in our community.

JoLee is well versed in the treatment of trauma, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, resiliency and stress management. Her focus is to meet individuals where they are at to address each persons individual needs. She sees challenges and life circumstances as an opportunity to change and grow.
